ONE HANFORD FEEDING FAMILIES FUNDRAISER
The One Hanford Feeding Families fundraiser kicked off this week with a goal of raising $65,000 to help provide food to people facing hunger in the Inland Northwest. The second annual event encourages the Columbia Basin community to donate to help their neighbors in need. Click here to learn more or donate to the fundraiser. You can also hear directly from Hanford’s leadership about their commitment to building healthier communities in this video.
A FRIENDLY WAGER
Governor Inslee and Texas Governor Greg Abbott made a friendly bet before the NCAA championship game that was guaranteed to do some good: if Gonzaga won, Second Harvest would receive a bushel of Texas pecans, and if Baylor won, Central Texas Food Bank would receive some Washington-grown apples (the best kind!). Of course, we were sad that our beloved Zags didn’t win the championship, but we were happy that our friends at Central Texas Food Bank would receive some nutritious Cosmic Crisp apples for people facing hunger in Texas. Governor Inslee also sent some apples, provided by Domex Superfresh Growers, to Second Harvest to help our neighbors in need right here in Washington state. Second Harvest was happy to welcome WSDA Director Sanderson on behalf of Governor Inslee when the apples were delivered. Thank you, Governor Inslee and Domex, and go Zags!
