NATIONAL AGRICULTURE MONTH, MOBILE MARKET AND MORE – MARCH 5

NATIONAL AGRICULTURE MONTH

Second Harvest is excited to celebrate its wonderful agricultural partners during National Agriculture Month this March! We’re so grateful to the local farmers and growers who donate their crops to help ensure everyone in our region has the food they need to stay healthy. Thanks to these committed partners, almost half the food Second Harvest provides is fresh produce. Northwest Agricultural Consultants – Soil and Plant Lab of Kennewick is proudly sponsoring National Agriculture Month this year at Second Harvest’s Pasco hunger solution center. To read more about National Agriculture Month and Second Harvest’s agricultural partners, click here.

MOBILE MARKET

Second Harvest continues to update its Mobile Market calendar with details about upcoming free food distributions across the Inland Northwest. To view the calendar, click here. Please note: Second Harvest will host another mass distribution (750 families) at the Spokane County Fairgrounds today, March 5, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., or as supplies last.

FOOD BANK OR FOOD PANTRY?

Outside of the food bank world, the terms food bank and food pantry are often used interchangeably, but there is a difference! In short, food banks are nonprofits that store and distribute millions of pounds of food to local food pantries and meal centers. Food pantries receive food from food banks, along with other community donations, to distribute to people facing hunger in their neighborhoods. Second Harvest is a food bank, and it distributes food to 250 food pantries and meal sites across Eastern Washington and North Idaho.
