COVID-19 VACCINE UPDATE, THANKSGIVING DISTRIBUTIONS AND MORE – FEBRUARY 5
COVID-19 VACCINE UPDATE
Since the vaccine has become available in Washington state, WA 2-1-1 has seen an increased surge in its call volumes with very long wait times. Please note the following updates from WA 2-1-1:
-
The 1-800-525-0127 Helpline is open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and observed state holidays to answer all COVID-19 related questions.
-
You can check your vaccine eligibility at www.FindYourPhaseWa.org. Please print or screen shot your eligibility to obtain a vaccine at the vaccine site. If you need assistance with this tool, please call 1-800-525-0127.
-
Per Washington state’s mandate, everyone will need to book an appointment for the vaccine by preregistering at https://prepmod.doh.wa.gov/clinic/search. It is strongly recommended if possible that family or friends assist with the online registration as there are several tabs to fill out. Please note an email account is required for each individual to receive their booking confirmation.
-
Continue to check https://prepmod.doh.wa.gov/clinic/search for available appointments. If it says zero doses are available, do not attempt to register as the system does not save the information. WA 2-1-1 is in close contact with Washington’s Department of Health to try to make this process more efficient and user friendly with feedback from callers and community partners.
-
Vaccine appointments when released at each of the mass vaccine sites are filled within hours. Many seniors are calling the helpline, experience long wait queues and are given this disappointing update.
Please share this information with family, colleagues and client groups, if applicable, to help ensure everyone has important information about vaccine eligibility and registration.
THANKSGIVING DISTRIBUTIONS
It’s that time of year again… to start planning Second Harvest’s Thanksgiving meal distributions! The holidays likely aren’t top of mind for many, but Second Harvest is committed to providing Thanksgiving meals to families in need in Spokane, the Mid-Columbia and Yakima Valley each year. We have to order the turkeys early in the year to make sure we have what we need when the time comes, and we’ve already checked this off our list for 2021. We also continue to work out other logistics for the distributions. Second Harvest is grateful year-round for the immense community support for these events. From our volunteers to sponsors to donors—the Thanksgiving meal distributions wouldn’t be possible without you.
CHARITY NAVIGATOR RATING
Second Harvest is proud to have received a four-star rating, the highest possible score, from Charity Navigator, the largest independent charity evaluator in the U.S. Charity Navigator bases its ratings on nonprofits’ financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency. We couldn’t have received this rating without you. Thank you for trusting us with your donations, your volunteer time and your goodwill. Your trust and support mean so much to us and the individuals and families we serve. Click here to see more details about Second Harvest’s Charity Navigator rating.
