TYSON FOODS DONATION 

Second Harvest gratefully accepted a donation of 30,000 pounds of chicken from Tyson Foods on Monday, Sept. 28. The donation will help families facing hunger in the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas during the COVID-19 crisis. Tyson Foods has been an important partner to Second Harvest since 2006 and has supported the construction of the Pasco hunger solution center, Second Harvest’s annual Taking a Bite out of Hunger event and Bite2Go. They also granted Second Harvest $90,000 to install a large racking system to improve the Pasco hunger solution center’s storage capacity. Read more about their recent donation here. Thank you, Tyson, for helping ensure that everyone in our community can get the food they need during this challenging time. 

BEEF COUNTS DONATION 

The Washington Beef Commission presented a generous donation of $13,157 to Second Harvest this week to help alleviate hunger during the COVID-19 crisis. This gift is part of the Beef Counts program, which raises money from beef producers and other donors to provide high-quality protein to local families in need. The money was raised at an annual rollover auction in September and is being donated to hunger-relief organizations across the state.
