BEN FRANKLIN TRANSIT PARTNERSHIP, MOBILE MARKET AND MORE – MAY 26
PARTNERSHIP WITH BEN FRANKLIN TRANSIT
Second Harvest and Ben Franklin Transit in the Tri-Cities have partnered to host food distributions to transit riders. Over the past two weeks, 500 families have received fresh produce and shelf-stable products at these events. Ben Franklin Transit will host four distributions concurrently on Wednesday, May 27, at 11 a.m. in Kennewick, Pasco, Richland and Prosser. Second Harvest appreciates Ben Franklin Transit’s commitment to ensuring that everyone in their community has access to food during this crisis.
MOBILE MARKET
Second Harvest’s Mobile Market will return to the Spokane County Fairgrounds (404 N. Havana St. Spokane Valley, WA 99202) on Wednesday, May 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or while supplies last). SIKH TEMPLE DONATION
The Sikh communities in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene came together to donate $15,000 to Second Harvest to help ensure that our neighbors in need have access to healthy food during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to their monetary contribution, they also donated $2,000 in food. Thank you to the Sikh Temple for your generous support during this crisis! Learn more about their donation here.
VOICES OF HOPE
“My husband is in health care, and even though he’s an essential worker, he was still laid off due to lack of patients. I have three small children under the age of five. This has been a terrible time for us. The first time I went to a Mobile Market, I had tears in my eyes. I never wanted to have to go, but it has been so helpful.” -Debbie, Kennewick
